The Rear Hatch or Liftgate relies on an electronic control unit that has been found to carry undue risk. The included vehicles are prone to an inoperable rear hatch if an object interferes with its operation. Toyota has confirmed the limitation and associated risk and has engineered a new electronic control unit for the rear power door that will prevent faulty performance.
Toyota will provide free recall repair service to all Toyota models included in the safety campaign. All authorized Toyota dealers are authorized to replace the Power Rear Hatch ECU free of charge through November 30, 2019.
