How-To Set Dynamic Radar Cruise Control on a Toyota
The Toyota Safety Senseâ„¢ suite of features is standard on many new Toyota models for sale in Ballwin at Jay Wolfe Toyota of West County and includes adaptive cruise control, otherwise known as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)*.
This next-level cruise control system uses millimeter wave radar behind the Toyota badge plus a camera on the windshield to automatically adjust your speed based on where the vehicle in front of you is located in order to maintain a safe driving distance. Check out the video above, or follow the steps below to learn how to set the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control using the steering wheel mounted controls on your Toyota.
To use Toyota’s Dynamic Radar Cruise Control On-The-Go:
- Turn on the cruise control setting located on the right hand side of the steering wheel, it’s the button in the middle of the circle.
- If you’re at the speed you’d like to be, push set, which is the button along the bottom of the ring. To adjust the speed, use the button at the top of the ring.
- To adjust the distance from the vehicle in front of you, click on the button to the top left of the cruise control button circle / ring. You can set it for as far as three cars away, two cars away, or one car length away.
If the vehicle detects there is a car in front of you, and they are slowing down, your Toyota will automatically start adjusting the speed to maintain the safe driving distance you designated upon set-up.
Other things to know about Toyota’s Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: your vehicle’s speed must be at least 28mph to initial cruise control, DRCC is best used on highways and freeways, and the system may not operate during poor visibility conditions caused by weather or if something is on the sensor.
