Why Do I Need a Wheel Alignment?
At every tire shop and dealership on every street, you see an advertisement for wheel alignments. But that doesn’t apply to you, does it? You don’t need a wheel alignment because you’re a good driver. You haven’t hit any curbs…
So why are wheel alignments such a hot topic? Let’s bring you up to speed — you could very well need an alignment and not know it!
Signs You Need a Wheel Alignment
The tell-tale sign, everyone knows, is when your steering wheel pulls either to the left or right. So if your car drives straight, are you fine? Well, not exactly.
Your alignment could be way out of whack and your car might still drive straight. But, if you take a look at your tires, you could see unusual wear or premature wear. The inner shoulder of your front tires is the usual spot, but you could see rough patches in the center of the tread as well. If your tires are looking a little abnormal in wear, you need an alignment.
Loose or tight steering
If your steering is harder to control, that’s another clear sign. If your alignment is out to lunch, it can make your car feel loose or tight, and that could be dangerous.
Premature suspension wear
Do you have unexpected suspension repairs looming? It could be because your wheel alignment caused extra stress. You might notice a clunk or rattle that wasn’t there before, or a stiff or loose ride.
Why Should I Get an Alignment?
The cost of a wheel alignment is minor, yet the dividends definitely pay off. Proper alignment can help prevent the high costs of suspension repairs and tire replacements. But there’s more.
If your wheel alignment is off, your car may not handle safely. You could be putting yourself and others at risk, and that’s not cool.
